MEP Project Manager

As a MEP Project manager, you will represent DFWCGI in interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. You will be responsible for shepherding the successful design work for your projects, as well as coordinating the needs of the MEP engineering staff and the various consultant team members. You will have the opportunity to regularly work shoulder to shoulder with some of the most talented engineers, visionary architects, and progressive Owners in our industry, tackling challenging problems with thoughtful and innovative solutions.

DFWCGI is seeking a project manager to take ownership of the MEP project development process. The markets the PM serves will be dependent on skillset and resume; however, the following markets are core to our firm and the PM should expect to experience with time served at the firm: Aviation, Central/District Utilities, Data Centers, Government, Higher Education, High Tech Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Large Scale Commercial, and Telecommunications.

Some of Your Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage client relationships.
  • Planning with design team to deliver projects on time.
  • Monitor project budget and timely identify scope creep to customer.
  • Write additional service requests in conjunction with Principal In Charge.
  • Monitor project progress.
  • Influence design team to identify roadblocks for completion of scope.
  • Assist the design team in prioritizing design activities according to project stage.
  • Schedules and conducts site surveys.
  • Communicate with team and leadership of status of documentation and budget of projects.
  • Facilitate communication between customer, other consultants, and internal team.
  • Schedule, facilitate and document all required internal meetings: project handoff meeting, kick off meeting, lessons learned meeting, progress meeting, page-turn meeting, construction administration kick off meeting.
  • Participate in all external meetings, document, and distribute meeting minutes to internal and external team.
  • Review and approve invoices.
  • Provide direction to Production Department for project setup.
  • Identify and document codes applicable to project for design team.
  • Obtain all pertinent information for project delivery.
  • Keep consistency between disciplines in project setup. Review format of drawings and specifications prior to issuance of documents.
  • Timely communicate project schedule and any schedule updates.
  • Utilize DFW Way Project Management forms: sheet index, specification table of contents, coordination items list, meeting minutes, meeting agenda.
  • Coordinate issuance of project documents to Customer with Production Department.
  • Schedule QC review with design team.
  • Review structural, architectural, civil drawings, technology, kitchen consultant, MEP drawings and documented action items. Identify any outstanding coordination items between DFWCGI drawings and other consultants prior to every major milestone issuance.
  • Provide feedback of team performance to Department directors.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for the Company.

    To Be Considered You Need:

    • 7+ years of experience, including:
      • 4+ years of experience in the MEP industry
      • 3+ years of additional experience in a project management capacity in the MEP industry
    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering (or higher)
    • Professional Engineering License (In Texas or ability to obtain via NCEES Credentials)
