First Baptist Church of Dallas

First Baptist Church of Dallas was established in 1868 and has remained a landmark of downtown Dallas ever since. Faced with aging facilities the church set out on a mission to recreate and expand its campus in the heart of downtown.

The renovation and expansion totaled 500,000 SF at a total cost of $135 million and sought to blend the traditional with the new. The project included new construction on a Worship Center of approximately 250,000 SF and 3,000 seats and renovation of the existing sanctuary built in 1891. The expansion included a new parking garage (approximately 180,000 SF), and a new five-story children’s education center (approximately 100,000 SF) replacing old structures and a surface lot. Part of the undertaking included a sky bridge, connecting the old with the new. The campus covers six blocks of downtown Dallas.

The entire renovation and expansion took place while the members and staff of First Baptist Church of Dallas continued you to use the facilities.
