Mountain View Campus Nursing & Allied Health Building
MEP Engineering for 34,000 square feet of new construction on Dallas College’s Mountain View Campus. Key features of the project include a nursing simulation suite, nursing skills lab, and testing center. Other areas include faculty offices, restrooms, student lounge, classrooms, library, and administrative offices.
DFWCGI took the time to understand the existing campus infrastructure and load growth, and not only designed the NAHB mechanical systems, but were also asked to design the central utility system extensions and modifications to support the other new construction projects on the campus. We were chosen for this task due to our desire to fully understand the systems we were connecting to, as well as our attention to detail and our focus on exceeding our customers’ needs.
During design, Dallas College was unsure if the existing CUP could support growth. DFWCGI performed a capacity assessment for the entire campus with load forecasts for four new facilities, including the NAHB, as well as 10 other future master-planned facilities, and determined the existing CUP lacked the necessary capacity to support the college’s vision. DFWCGI was able to design a new satellite energy plant (SEP) to provide the necessary capacity for campus growth and allow for the four new facilities to be completed on-schedule.
