ReligiousChurches, Academies & Multi-use Facilities

Dallas, TX

The landmark church of Downtown Dallas has undertaken what may be the largest expansion of any church ever.

The renovation and expansion totaled 500,000 sqft at a total cost of $135 million and sought to blend the traditional with the new. The project included new construction of a Worship Center of approximately 250,000 sqft and 3,000 seats and renovation of the existing sanctuary built in 1891. The expansion included a new parking garage (approximately 180,000 sqft), and a new five-story children’s education center (approximately 100,000 sqft) replacing outdated structures and a surface lot. Part of the undertaking included a sky bridge, connecting the old with the new. The campus covers six blocks of downtown Dallas.

While the sheer size of the renovation and expansion is impressive, the systems involved make this church campus incredibly technologically advanced and surprisingly energy efficient. The entire renovation and expansion took place while the members and staff of First Baptist Church of Dallas continued you to use the facilities.
