Airfield Rescue & Fire Fighting Stations

DFW International Airport sought to consolidate four existing ARFF stations into two newly constructed consolidated ARFF stations based on recommendations in an Emergency Services Master Plan (ESMP). DFWCGI partnered with the architect to define space requirements and the associated MEP system requirements to support the new ARFF stations.

Our firm identified and suggested various MEP system types and utilized high-level energy modeling to forecast building energy consumption. DFWCGI integrated sustainable design strategies into the schematic design and forecasted achievable LEED Silver points.

DFWCGI worked with airport stakeholders to select MEP systems that reduce energy and aid in meeting DFW Airport’s NET-ZERO energy goal. The MEP subsystems were outlined and coordinated for integration into DFW’s GSN with monitoring and control of all HVAC controls, Lighting controls, Emergency Generator Paralleling Gear, Fuel Oil Storage and Delivery System monitoring, UPS systems monitoring, Power and Water Metering monitoring, Gas Detection, Vehicle Exhaust Containment, and Alarm systems. DFWCGI incorporated system accessories and modifications to ensure that the architecturally designated sleeping locations can withstand an EF-5 tornado.
