Confidential Colocation Data Center

Our client needed to build out data hall spaces in data halls 3 and 4 of an operational data center. The project consisted of the addition of 5 medium voltage transformers and generators to add 6MW of compute capacity (9MW firm power) to the facility. In addition to the prime power sources, downstream switchgear, UPS modules, and Automatic Transfer Switches were designed to support an electrical design with four primary lineups and a 5th catcher lineup.

Mechanically, the heat rejection systems were designed for a “N+1” redundancy scheme in the data halls and a “2N” redundancy scheme in the electrical rooms. The data hall servers were air cooled, with a flooded room gallery style design consistent with the Client’s standard at this campus. Environmental conditions were designed to comply with ASHRAE A1 standards. The new systems were integrated into the campus master BMS and EMPS systems for remote monitoring and control.
