Aledo Municipal Complex

The City of Aledo was lacking facilities to support their city growth, and therefore worked with Randall Scott Architects to develop a new Municipal Complex Program. After programming and preliminary budgeting, DFWCGI was brought onto Randall Scott’s team to support the MEP design and construction of this landmark facility, which will support the City of Aledo’s continued development.

The project consisted of a new 25,000-SF municipal complex including council chambers, library, community room, storm shelter, and offices for City of Aledo staff. A 150 kW standby generator and automatic transfer switch was included in the design to back up executive conference rooms, community rooms, restrooms, a kitchenette, and other support spaces to allow the city to continue operations in the event of a major power loss event. The generator was provided with weather and sound enclosures in addition to a UL 2085 belly tank for fuel storage.

The site layout, building, and generator enclosure were designed around a large heritage tree that is the focal point of the complex. Our team worked with the City, Architect, and other consultants to design the conduit routing, lighting, and emergency systems around the tree canopy to highlight and preserve this important feature for the city.
