Life High School Waxahachie

Life School is a system of charter schools serving the southern part of the Metroplex. Life School was started in 1998 and has grown to an enrollment of 5,300 students in the fall of 2015.

The 131,000 SF high school serves grades 9-12 on a 27 acre campus and can accommodate 1,000 students. The campus is the first ground-up school campus for the Life School system. The project included student drop-off areas, 500 parking spaces, a gymnasium, cafeteria, 25 classrooms, science labs, computer labs, an audio/visual lab, locker rooms, weight rooms, theater, and band hall. The campus also includes a track, synthetic turf football field, baseball field, and softball field.

The project presented several challenges which required engineering ingenuity achieving energy efficiency, and keeping to an aggressive design and construction schedule. The project required detailed coordination with the structural engineer and project team due to the large amount of exposed duct work in the facility.
