Student Commons

This project was a new 58,000 SF student commons building for Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. The building included an atrium, bookstore, dining area, recreation center, conference center, and student organization offices. The Commons featured a rock climbing wall, indoor track and gym, and racquetball courts.

The HVAC system utilized two 130 ton air cooled chillers to serve six indoor variable air volume air handling units and a constant volume fan coil unit. The full-service kitchen was provided with two large exhaust hoods with the associated exhaust and make-up air systems.

The electrical system was designed to provide power and lighting for the basic building functions as well as special lighting for the uniquely designed common areas and double volume dining area.
